Forgiven

Forgiven

To see Him look at me with those eyes of love,
After I scorned Him,
            denied Him,
            rejected Him.
To hear Him whisper those words, "I forgive you,"
After I turned my back,
            did my own thing,
            rejected his gift.

He not only forgave me, but He picked me up.
The wounds and pain that my sins had created,
He began to heal and mend.
He touched me with those nail scared hands,
those hands that had paid for my sin.
Tears of joy flowed down His blood stained face as He hugged me and accepted me.
He submitted Himself to bleed and die, so my chains could be removed,
so I could be set free from my prison and bondages.
He fought for me.
The victory was His, the enemy defeated,

And I was set free!

How can you ever be the same after this happens?

This love, this acceptance, so unfathomable,
                                                unexplainable,
                                                uncomprehensible.

As His love flows through me, I become transformed, renewed, clean, beautiful.
I begin to see as He sees, feel like He feels, hear like He hears.
His love poured over me overflows,
Overflows to those in my path and they too receive His gift.

Amazing grace
